What to Expect
PLANNING TO VISIT HILL COUNTRY CHURCH
The best way to learn about our church is to visit. And to be honest, you really won't be able to get to know the church in just one visit. We think you should plan to visit at least 3-4 times. Depending on your background, there may be different things that are unfamiliar to you. The first time you visit, these will be the only things you notice or focus on. We'd love for you to take the time to get to know some of us personally and learn about how we worship. We welcome your questions about why we do what we do and try to make a point of explaining different parts of our worship each week.
What to Expect
Q. How do people dress?
A. You will probably see a range of dress. There is no uniform. There is no dress code. We don't believe we make ourselves acceptable to God by what we wear. We can only be accepted because Jesus clothes us in His righteousness. Worship is a special time when God meets with His people. People dress differently for special celebrations and events. Expect to see a range from more casual to more formal and everything in between. We hope you'll see that we spend a lot more time focusing on what Jesus provides for us to wear than on whatever clothes we happen to have on.
Q. What about my children?
A. We currently provide childcare during our worship services in a clean, volunteer-staffed nursery for children ages 3 months thru 3 years old. We also provide Bible curriculum to train our older children (ages 4- 1st grade). We encourage all our children to participate in the beginning of our worship service and we will dismiss them before the sermon begins. However, children of all ages are always welcome to remain in the worship service.
Q. What is the worship service like? What 'style' of music do you use?
A. Our worship service is very God-centered and intentional. We believe God cares about the way He is worshipped. We provide an order of worship that is intentional and biblical. We distribute our order of worship in bulletin format in order for everyone to fully participate in worshipping our Great God. If you would like to see a sample of one of our services, CLICK HERE. We don't believe God has preferred musical styles nor do we believe music should be all about what we like. So, we typically sing hymns, Psalms, and songs with the help of a piano and guitar. We do not believe this is the only way to worship through song (nor is this necessarily the only way we will ever worship through song), this is just where our giftedness lies.
