Why We Exist
We exist to bring glory and fame to God through his Son, Jesus Christ. The local church is the vehicle God has ordained to be a blessing to the nations (Genesis 12:2), the light and salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13) and the city that sits on a hill (Matthew 5:14). God has uniquely called and equipped us to serve the Killeen community. Our mission statement summarizes this call:
“Recruiting and preparing people for worldwide Kingdom service.”
We embrace these five distinctives to propel our vision as a church:
God created the entire human race for worship. We desire to direct our worship to the only One who is worthy of our worship and satisfies our longing for worship, Jesus Christ. Public worship as the family of God is vital to Christian living so we make it a high priority at Hill Country Church (PCA).
Hill Country Church (PCA) is in a unique position for outreach to the military community and to prepare service members to be ambassadors for Christ as they deploy worldwide. We are committed to recruiting, supporting and sending missionaries with the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world that is desperately sick.
Hill Country Church (PCA) places a high priority on training our members for worldwide Kingdom service. We accomplish this task through the faithful proclamation of the Word, in-depth Bible studies, evangelism training and many opportunities to ‘equip the saints for the work of ministry’ (Ephesians 4:12).
As fellow pilgrims, we travel together in the journey of life and faith. Christianity was never intended to be practiced in isolation, but rather in community (Hebrews 10:24-25). As we follow our Great Shepherd, we bear the burdens of others and provide a safe refuge for life lived in union with Christ and his Church. This is where growth in Christian living occurs.
Providing for the needs of others is fundamental to life in the church. Hill Country Church (PCA) longs to be a conduit of God’s love, fulfilling the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of our uniquely challenged community.
